Anotation:

The course presents the basics of biomedical engineering and provides illustrative examples of projects performed by the faculty teams.

Study targets:

•To understand the roles of the biomedical engineer in the research, healthcare, and private sector •To fit he field into a historical and ethical perspective •To describe and define different technical aspects of the biomedical engineering •To have an insight into the projects of the teams from the faculty

Content:

The main goal of the course is to provide students with compact insight into the topic of biomedical engineering. Therefore it provides not only the description of the technical and medical but also historical and ethical aspects of the field. Another goal is to provide students with possible aims for their studies. Therefore the lectures are divided into two parts. In the first one, the theoretical topics are presented and in the second part, practical projects are presented. The course is aimed at student of the first semester of the bachelor branch Bioinformatics.
