Admission procedure step-by-step

The following guide will give you an overview of the admissions process and how to start your studies at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering of the Czech Technical University in Prague. This procedure applies to bachelor's, master's and doctoral study programmes.

The deadline for enrolment (the application form together with all required documents) for the year 2024/2025 is 30th of April 2024.

1. FEE is the right choice!

First of all, answer the fundamental questions:

  • What do you enjoy and want to develop further?
  • What do you excel at in high school or grammar school?
  •  Are you interested in a future in IT and technology, or in science and research?
  •  Do you know all the benefits of studying at the FEE?

Tip: Find out as much as you can about our faculty and study programmes - in addition to this website, for example on Facebook, Instagram or Discord. Get inspired by projects and topics that you may one day tackle yourself. Discuss it with teachers, parents and friends.

2. Choose your study programme

Choose the study programme you wish to study. As you are going to study this programme for several years make sure you choose a programme which meets your personal interests and you know you will really enjoy studying!

3. Apply to study, pay the admission fee and send all required documents

Fill in the application form and pay the admission fee. Then send all required documents electronically (scanned) together with the application form that includes your signature to Ms. Barbora Sovová (Bachelor's degree programmes) or Ms.  Petra Hofmanová (Master's degree programmes):

  • Application form (must be completed electronically)

  • Transcript of studies (records)

    A transcript of studies is a record of study achievement. It should list all the modules or subjects you studied each year together with the marks or grades you achieved for each module. It should be stamped or signed by the registry of your previous institution and be on original letter-headed paper. If you do not have one you will need to contact your previous institution to request one.

  • Letter of motivation

  • Certificate confirming excellent proficiency in English

    Excellent knowledge of the English language (spoken and written). This can be proven either by certificates such as TOEFL iBT 70 / IELTS 6 / TOEIC 800 or any other similar certificates that confirm excellent proficiency in English. The knowledge of spoken English is assessed during online interviews with the members of the admission committee.

Please note: In order to apply, each prospective student has to send all required documents attached electronically to study@fel.cvut.cz.

4. Admission exam

Wait for the decision of the admission committee The remote admission exam has format of interview via Skype. The scope, topics, and time of the admission interview will be specified after submitting of application form. It is the responsibility of applicants to set up Skype technology on his/her site.

In case of admission please follow these steps:

  1. CTU will issue a letter of acceptance.
  2. Apply for a visa at the Czech Embassy in your country.
  3. Get accommodation in Prague and confirmation of accommodation at a CTU dormitory.
  4. Get your health care insurance.
  5. Pay the tuition fee for the first semester before your departure (after receiving visa).
  6. Submit a confirmation on the assessment of foreign education achieved abroad.

    Applicants for Bachelor's program:

    Applicants for Master's program:

    The confirmation on the assessment of foreign education must be delivered before enrolment. As this process might be sometimes difficult to do from home, in this case the faculty will issue a pre-acceptance letter for you and you would go through the process when you are already in Prague. However, this confirmation must be submitted no later than by the end of October of the year you start your studies. If you won’t be able to complete the recognition process on time, you cannot continue your studies and the university enrolment will be terminated.

  7. Enrolment for studies

    In order to complete your admission, you need to enrol for studies.

    Enrolment takes place in person in September. The dates are communicated directly to applicants by the respective study officers.

  8. Study Contract

    By matriculation you formally become a member of the Czech Technical University in Prague. This relationship is governed by a study contract. The purpose of this document is to identify the main terms of the contract which you will have with the university on acceptance of the offer of a place on a course which has been made to you. By signing this document you will enter into a contract with the university. The study contract contains both sides undertaking the regulations concerning study, tuition fees, additional charges and the residence.

    By signing and returning this document, you agree to collection, processing and use of personal data by the university for purposes connected to your studies, for the protection of your health and safety whilst on university premises and for the long-term relationship with the university. This document has to be signed between you as a student and the Faculty of Electrical Engineering represented by the dean. This contract shall be governed and constructed in accordance to Czech Law.
