Anotation:

Overview of sensors of physical quantities used in industry and research and associated methods of signal processing. Students will gain advanced knowledge of sensors and methods of signal processing. They will gain practical experience with measurement of physical quantities with various types of sensors.

Content:

Overview of sensors of physical quantities used in industry and research and associated methods of signal processing. Students will gain advanced knowledge of sensors and methods of signal processing. They will gain practical experience with measurement of physical quantities with various types of sensors.

Course outlines:

1. Physical principles of sensors, basic parameters and techniques of signal processing.
2. Materials for sensors. MEMS technology. Modeling and design of sensors.
3. Principles and applications of precise magnetic sensors.
4. Sensors for measurement of velocity, acceleration and vibrations.
5. Calibration and testing of sensors, evaluation of uncertainties.
6. Methods of reducing uncertainties. Noise and its measurement.
7. Correlation and coherent methods of sensor signal processing, filtration and data fusion.
8. Contactless sensors of electrical current.
9. Medical imaging, tomography. Sensors for medical diagnostics.
10. Applications of sensors in automotive and airspace technology.
11. Security applications of sensors. Sensors for virtual reality and navigation.
12. Sensors for industry and environmental monitoring.
13. Applications of sensors in geophysics, prospection and archaeology.
14. Intelligent sensors, sensor networks and systems.

Exercises outline:

Cvičení mají výhradně laboratorní charakter. Během nich si studenti vyzkouší sestavit pokročilé měřicí obvody pro významné typy senzorů, změřit jejich charakteristiky a spočítat nejistoty měření.
