Anotation:

The course introduces power plants electric circuit topologies and self-consumption equipment characteristics. There are explained steam and nuclear power plants design, dynamics and characteristics. Separate part is concentrated on hydro power plants principles and characteristics.

Course outlines:

1. Power plant design overview, basic topology
2. Self-consumption topologies, voltage profiles
3. Self-consumption characteristics
4. Short circuits in power systems
5. Generators ? overview, excitation systems, operation modes
6. Thermal units, thermal circuits
7. Steam power plants ? water-steam system (turbines, steam generators)
8. Steam power plants ? fuel and combustion circuit (boiler, combustion cleaning), cooling system, pumps and
9. Dynamics, models, control and operation modes of steam turbines
10. Hydro power plants ? general information, hydro turbine classification, design and construcion, dynamics, models and regulation systems
11. Nuclear power plants ? general information, nuclear reactor safety
12. Dynamics, models and regulation systems of nuclear reactors
13. Control and regulation systems in steam and nuclear power plants
14. Reserve

Condition for obtaining assessment is participation in seminars and semester thesis elaboration. Passing the exam is given by the Study and Examination Code for Students of the Czech Technical University in Prague.
