Anotation:

This course explains the topics of optoelectronic image sensors, especially CCD and CMOS sensors, optical system, illuminators and their application in the computer vision.

Course outlines:

1. Optical projection system, Optical transfer function, vignetting, lens aberration
2. Raster image scanning, photodiode sensors
3. Optoelectronic sensors CCD (line and area) for an image acquisition
4. CMOS image sensors, principle of an image acquisition
5. Real sensor parameters, MTF, noise
6. Cameras and optics for infra red sensing
7. Videosignal, signal digitalisation
8. Function blocks in digital photo camera and their function
9. Digital cameras and their interfaces
10. Cameras for special purposes (use in astronomy, military, medicine)
11. Design of illuminating system
12. Sources of structured light and their use
13. Optical filtering
14. Case study, reserve

Exercises outline:

1. Introduction, measurement instruments used in laboratory
2. Photodiodes, optical gates, sensor characteristics
3. CCD line sensor, controlling, output signal
4. CCD Area camera, video signal, standards CCIR, PAL (AGC, AES, gamma correction)
5. CMOS image sensor based camera, electronic shutter
6. Lenses - experiments (magnification, field of view,...)
7. Lenses - measurement of geometrical distortion, measurement using subpixel interpolation
8. Acquiring of a image using CCD camera using electronic shutter
9. Laser triangulation sensor
10. Image acquisition using digital photo camera, errors
11. Led based illuminators, lighting characteristics
12 Experiments and sensing under non constant illumination
13. Dimension and area measurement, errors, resolution
14. Evaluation of laboratory project
