Anotation:

Solar energy. Photo-thermal phenomena.Photo-thermal power stations. Photovoltaic phenomena. Photovoltaic cells and modules and their characteristics. Photovoltaic systems and their applications. Significance, economic and environmental aspects of solar energy exploitation.

Study targets:

To give students knowledge about basic solar energy application systems

Course outlines:

1. Solar energy and basic form of its exploitation
2. Influence of latitude and climate on irradiance and solar spectra
3. Conversion of solar energy into heat
4. Solar thermal systems
5. Photovoltaic phenomena, photovoltaic cells and their characteristics
6. Photovoltaic systems
7. Present trends in the solar energy utilisation.
