Commencement of study

The study in doctoral programmes begins on February 1, 2026. Each doctoral student in both full-time and part-time form is obliged to contact their supervisor and the Secretariat of the Department this day.

Change in the commencement of study

Change in the date of the commencement of study is only possible with the consent of the dean, which is to be provided on the basis of a written request addressed to him with a recommendation and explanation of the Supervisor and the Head of the Department. The respective form can be found for download here: Forms for Doctoral Degree Studies - CTU - Faculty of Electrical Engineering

Information systems at CTU:

  • Access to KOS (student information system) is possible from February 1, 2025 following the registration at the CTU Computing and information Centre. Here you also will be provided with a new CTU Student ID Card, more info: STUDENT Card. To obtain the ID card you have to supply a confirmation of study, which will be given to you at OVV when you enrol to study.
  • CTU FEE computer network user instructions are available at IT Centre (SVTI) - CTU - Faculty of Electrical Engineering.
  • An e-mail account is automatically set up at the fel.cvut.cz domain. The doctoral student is obliged to check messages sent to the official e-mail address.
  • CTU electronic payment system (abbrev. as TZS) account is automatically opened for scholarships, accommodation and food services payments at CTU, Central Library of CTU service fees etc. – please follow the instructions.

Individual Study Plan (ISP)

  • The doctoral student prepares a study plan for the entire study period (4 years for a full-time form, 5 years for a part-time form of study) in cooperation with the Supervisor and enters it into KOS (student information system). Upon agreement with the Supervisor, the student chooses at least 2 and a maximum of 6 compulsory courses (course codes must be entered in the ISP), where at least two of the courses are taught within an accredited doctoral study programme (at FEE, these courses' codes begin with the letters XP or XEP). Courses which are not taught in one of the accredited doctoral study programmes (such as programmes taught at other universities, Czech or foreign) have to be approved by the chairperson of the branch board. In such cases, the doctoral student must submit a written request for the recognition of such courses to OVV. Doctoral student can choose also optional courses and other planned study activities (courses for their pedagogical practice, foreign stay etc.).
  • The ISP is valid with the approval of the doctoral student, supervisor, the head of the department and the chairperson of the branch board. Courses entered in the ISP are simultaneously recorded to the actual semester in KOS. Once the ISP is approved, the courses included become compulsory for the doctoral student.
  • Only courses from the list starting with letters/code XP and/or XEP are to be chosen freely; courses offered by other universities may be chosen upon submitting the approved ISP form page 3 to the OVV.
  • The ISP form must be approved by February 28, 2026 (or 30 days after the commencement of the study).

Student status confirmation

For student status confirmation, feel free to contact either Ing. Kamila Gregorová or Mgr. Nikola Malečková whose contact information is listed above. Either contact them via email, or visit the OVV office within office hours.

Why do you need it?

Semester assessment

Doctoral students fill out their activities (abbrev. as SH) each semester in the HUB app: hub.fel.cvut.cz. You can use the app for the semester assessment after you receive an email about the assessment being open. The semester assessment becomes valid after the evaluation of the supervisor, the head of the department and the chairperson of the board have also been entered into the app. Each of the academics expresses their assessment over the student's pedagogical and research activities and publications, together with a definite written statement on whether the student is eligible to continue in their Ph.D. study or not (negative decision must be clearly explained and justified). All of them are entitled to suggest the termination of the study.

Deadline for study evaluation for the winter semester - February 28,
Deadline for study evaluation for the summer semester - September 30.
