Anotation:
The goal of the subject is to inform the students about properties, parameters, and design methodology of radio circuits, radio function blocks, and more complex blocks of radio transmitters and receivers. The lectures are devoted sequentially to elements, circuits, function blocks, and systems which are used at radio frequencies. The exercises are both seminar and laboratory; the seminars are devoted the basic calculations from the area of the radio function blocks, and the measurements are devoted to both basic function blocks and more complex problems from the area of radio transmitters and receivers.
Study targets:
Presenting knowledge for practical radio circuits design.
Course outlines:
1. | | Two-port circuit parameters, voltage, current, and power gain, stability, linear and nonlinear distortions, IPn |
2. | | Noise parameters of elements and two-port circuits, noise figure, noise temperature, noise measure |
3. | | Cascade synthesis, gain, noise parameters, IPn of the cascade |
4. | | High-frequency properties of passive elements, resonators, parasitic effects, capacitors and inductors |
5. | | Impedance matching with the elements with concentrated selectivity, impedance transformers |
6. | | Filters for radio devices (with lumped parameters, SAW, crystal, with resonators) |
7. | | Special high-frequency semiconductor elements and their characterization, HBT, GaAs FET, HEMT, PIN, varicaps, varactors, RF switches |
8. | | Wide-band and narrow-band amplifiers, stability, semisymbolic analysis, differential amplifier, cascode and other basic blocks, amplifier with controlled gain, VGA, DVGA, AGC, ABCD power amplifiers |
9. | | Detectors and mixers, quasi-linear analysis, conversion loss, mixers with diodes and FETs, quadrature modulators and demodulators |
