The 54th SEFI 2026 Annual Conference to Be Held at CTU in Prague – Paper Submissions Now Open

The SEFI Annual Conference, focused on higher engineering education, will take place this year from 7th to 10th September at the Czech Technical University in Prague. The programme will be conducted entirely in English and will offer a wide range of contributions, which can be submitted to the conference as of now. Submissions are open until 1st April 2026.

Student Intermedia Laboratory 2026: Realize your project with expert support from the Institute of Intermedia

Until February 6, 2026, students can submit their intermedia projects in the fields of art, new media, and technology to the Student Intermedia Laboratory 2026. The winning project will receive a residency at the Institute of Intermedia at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering of the Czech Technical University in Prague, including professional and technical support.

Student Acoustics Seminar 2026: Helium balloons will improve acoustics in churches, while yerba mate will do the same in modern buildings

Students and experts gathered at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering of the Czech Technical University in Prague for the seventh annual Student Acoustics Seminar. In their conference presentations, students presented the results of their research within the framework of their bachelor's, master's, and doctoral theses. They talked, for example, about how to improve acoustics in listed buildings using helium-filled balloons, or about alternative components in construction that improve acoustic and thermal properties.

40 years of photovoltaics at CTU FEE: How did a technological curiosity become a cutting-edge field and the fastest growing type of electrical energy in the world

The Faculty of Electrical Engineering at CTU in Prague will celebrate four anniversaries related to photovoltaics with an exhibition. Throughout the month, visitors will be able to view eight posters in the faculty building in Dejvice, commemorating the beginnings of photovoltaic research at FEE CTU and its further development over the years. The opening took place on Tuesday, 20 January at FEL Café.

Dr. Patrik Mottl is the new Vice-Dean for Development at CTU's Faculty of Electrical Engineering

As of January 1, 2026, the Faculty of Electrical Engineering at CTU in Prague has a new Vice-Dean for Development. The position is now held by RNDr. Patrik Mottl, Ph.D., former head of the Department of Science and Research, who replaces Prof. Tomáš Svoboda.

FEE CTU is launching two new master's programs. It is responding to the strategic need for experts in chips and modern electronics

Starting in the 2026/2027 academic year, the Faculty of Electrical Engineering at CTU will launch two new master's degree programs: Electronics and Integrated Systems (EIS) and Communications and the Internet of Things (KIT). These programs are being created by dividing the existing Electronics and Communications (EK) program and reflect the fundamental transformation of the technological world and the growing demand for highly qualified experts, especially in the field of chip design and semiconductor technologies.

Synth Challenge 2025: The Best Electric Car Sound Synthesis Created by Ing. Jakub Dvořák

Students competing in Synth Challenge 2025 aimed to create the most realistic synthesis of an electric vehicle’s sound in relation to motion. On January 7, the expert jury awarded first place to the work of Ing. Jakub Dvořák, who prevailed over 10 other competitors. Ing. Dvořák graduated from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering (FEE) in the Electronics and Communications program with a specialization in radio systems. He is currently studying the program Teaching of Electrical and Cyber Engineering Subjects for Secondary Schools. The resulting syntheses of all competitors can be listened to on the website.

PhD student Jakub Kučera from FEE CTU received an award from the Vice-Dean for Doctoral Studies and Science for an article published in a leading journal

The fourth doctoral student to receive the Vice-Dean’s Award for PhD-authored Papers in Top Journals is Jakub Kučera from the Department of Drives and Electric Traction. He received the award on Tuesday, December 16, after giving a presentation at a departmental seminar on his scientific results published in an article in a leading impact journal in the field.

PhD student Adam Kubín received the FEE CTU Vice-Dean Award for his doctoral publication in a leading journal

Doc. Milan Polívka awarded the Vice-Dean's Award for PhD-authored Papers in Top Journals to Ing. Adam Kubín, a doctoral student at the Department of Economics, Management, and Humanities FEE CTU. The award supports outstanding scientific outputs by doctoral students at supported departments who are the main authors of publications with significant scientific contribution published in the world's best journals.

A Competition of Computer Games Developed by Student Teams at the FEE CTU Was Won by the Game In Puzzle. It Takes Place Inside a Rubik’s Cube – and in Space

The game In Puzzle, full of tasks of varying difficulty, won the competition of semester projects by students of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering of the Czech Technical University in Prague (FEE CTU). The winning team — Ondřej Čopák, Ondřej Hrabě, Veronika Ihnashkina, and Kamoliddin Bakhriddinov — succeeded among 14 other titles. The presentation of six games selected through faculty voting and the announcement of the winners took place on Tuesday, January 6, at FEE. The top three projects were chosen by a jury composed of representatives of academia and game studios. Trailers of all the games are on the competition website or on YouTube.

Smart algorithms from FEE CTU help the police: the FACIS project wins the 2025 Minister of the Interior Award

The FACIS project has won the 2025 Minister of the Interior Award, which recognizes researchers and their teams for achieving outstanding results in the field of security research. The project was developed by a team from the Department of Cybernetics at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering of the Czech Technical University in Prague, led by Prof. Jiří Matas, in collaboration with a team from the Faculty of Information Technology at the Brno University of Technology, led by Ing. Jan Pluskal, Ph.D., who was the principal investigator of the project.

Illia Volkov from FEL Receives the Stanislav Hanzl Award. He Donated the Prize Money to Help Ukraine

Illia Volkov, a student of the bachelor’s program Open Informatics at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering (FEL), received the Stanislav Hanzl Award for talented students of CTU. Nine awardees accepted the prize at the end of November in Bethlehem Chapel.
