7. 10. 2021 Dear students, The situation around coronavirus infection has been gradually worsening in recent days and although no significant restrictive measures are in force at the moment, we should place all the more emphasis on prevention. We can still remember what it was like to lecture and learn online, and I believe that none of us wants to experience that again. Each of us can do our part to minimise the risk of coronavirus infection and make the next few weeks and months of full-time teaching as smooth as possible by taking personal responsibility and behaving safely. We would like to remind you to follow the measures issued by Rector´s Order No. 21/2020. Students who are found to be infected with coronavirus/test positive or who are under quarantine are required to report this fact immediately to sekretariat@fel.cvut.cz. Last but not least, let me make a personal recommendation. I believe, along with my colleagues in the faculty administration and in agreement with the professional scientific community, that the most effective tool in the fight against coronavirus is vaccination, which after three-quarters of a year of practice has already proven its efficacy and safety in convincing statistics. That is why we prefer our students to be vaccinated. I am confident that together we can make it through another semester at risk of the virus, and I thank all those who respect the above rules. We would like to pay your attention that requirements for the Travel Medical Insurance for Non-EU citizens applying for a long-term visa / long term residence permit have changed from August 2nd, 2021. 31. 8. 2021 Dear newcomers, the Academic year 2021/2022 is coming soon and I would like to invite you to participate in the Orientation Week for International Degree Students that will take place at the CTU Rectorate – CIIRC building (address: Jugoslavskych partyzanu 1580/3, Prague 6, 10th floor) on Tuesday, September 14, 2021 at 9:30 am CEST. It would be a good opportunity to know more about the university, study process, sports and leisure activities, career opportunities, rights and obligations for you as a foreigner in the Czech Republic and many other interesting topics including “culture shock”: 09:30 am University information Please note that the program of the Orientation Week is dependent on the current health measures and might change due to Covid-19 restrictions. I know that because of the pandemic situation and restrictions many of our newcoming students unfortunately are still waiting for their visas and can not come to Prague in time to attend the Orientation Week. That is why we have decided to stream it – the whole event on Tuesday, September 14 will be streamed via YouTube. 7. 7. 2021 Dear students, I hope you’re doing well, staying safe and you have successfully passed all exams. For most of you summer holidays have already started and in this respect I would like to let you know about some important instructions on a long-term residence permit extension. Don't miss to do that in time! 1. Application form and documents First of all you should fill in the Application form of request for issuing or extending of the validity of long-term residence permit (so-called green application). Check out the example here. Еhe list of country codes you can find here. Together with the application for an extension of validity of a long-term residence permit issued for the purpose of "studies" you must submit following documents valid for the whole period of your stay in the Czech Republic:
After your application will be submitted, you will get the confirmation with the reference number from the Officer (in Czech: “číslo jednací“, or “č. j.”). With this number you can check the status of your application, submit additional documents and communicate with the MOI. In case of application by post, data mailbox or e-mail, we would like to recommend you apply with a cover letter and ask MOI to confirm acceptance of your application and provide you with the reference number. This letter should be written in Czech also. If you need assistance with that, feel free to contact our colleagues: international@fel.cvut.cz. 2. Where to apply An application for an extension to the validity of a long-term residence permit can be submitted at the relevant Department for Asylum and Migration Policy of the Ministry of the Interior (MOI) inside the Czech Republic only! Our students can apply at the special students’ workplace (visits are by appointment only): MOI office Prague III BIO You can arrange an appointment by phone (appointment and information line: +420 974 820 680) as well as via an online reservation system (available also in English). In case you are not satisfied with the offered options, you can visit other MOI offices without the appointment: MOI office Prague I BIO (for clients with residence address at Prague-Východ, Prague-Západ, Prague 1, 2, 3, 6, 7, 8 and 9) MOI office Prague II BIO (for clients with residence address at Prague 4, 5 and 10) We are recommending you to visit these offices in the early morning to register in the electronic queue and avoid long waiting! Applications for a long-term residence permit extension, which are normally required to be delivered to MOI in person, for the duration of the COVID-19 pandemic can be also accepted by post (see address below) as well as electronically via data mailbox (ID: 6bnaawp) or by e-mail (posta@mvcr.cz) electronically signed! Ministry of the Interior 3. After application After your application will be successfully submitted, you can stay legally in the territory of the Czech Republic as long as the decision on your application will be made. You can also travel around the Schengen area as well as abroad European Union, but for this purpose you will need to get a so-called “temporary visa” – bridging label. To get the bridging label you should visit MOI personally with a valid travel document, no other requirements are necessary. Sure, it is better to make an appointment to avoid long waiting in a queue. Please, provide in your application the valid contact information. MOI can contact you any time! Check your post box, e-mail and data box regularly. 4. Visa supports, legal or social assistance If you need any assistance with your visa, residence permit extension, looking for a free legal, social and therapeutic counseling or need any other help, support and advice, please, feel free to contact Mr. Oleg Fetisov from the International Office (fetisole@fel.cvut.cz). If you need free interpretation services, legal or other assistance services for foreigners living in the Czech Republic, you can contact non-profit organisations defending rights of foreigners in the Czech Republic, e. g. 14. 5. 2021 Dear students, as you already noticed, the pandemic situation in the Czech Republic is much better than last month. Many restrictions were cancelled and every single day we are getting closer to our normal social lifestyle. Nevertheless, I would like to ask you to take care about your health and safety! In this order, I would like to inform you about some relevant updates. 1. All international CTU students can get health care services and assistance in English. CTU has initiated providing health care services and assistance in English for our international students at the Prague Municipal Outpatient Clinic (in Czech: Městská poliklinika Praha): Prague Municipal Outpatient Clinic In case you are not holder of the European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) – e. g. you have regular Travel Medical Insurance, – please, contact your health insurance company before your visit to the clinic to get the guarantee that all medical services and fees will be refunded. To get health care services and assistance in English for free, please, don't forget to take with you your health insurance card and your CTU student ID card! For more information on health care services in Prague, check out the Survival Guide of the International Student Club CTU in Prague. 2. UNIQA Insurance for international students, researchers and employees. All our full-time and exchange students (with the exception of Erasmus+ students), interns, researchers and employees can apply for travel medical insurance from UNIQA Insurance company for special reduced prices. For more information, please, visit our website. 3. Free antigen testing for CTU international students. All CTU international students who are not holders of the European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) can make an express COVID-19 antigen test at the testing site in the Student House in Dejvice Campus for free! The testing site is open every Monday, Tuesday and Thursday from 8.00 AM to 2.00 PM until further notice. So far, no reservation system is necessary. To get the testing site, please, go through the terrace to the Canteen, then to the right in the hall and up to the first floor – there are signs everywhere. 23. 3. 2021 The rules for entering the territory of the Czech Republic As of Friday March 19th the Minister of Health approved new protective measures and conditions of entry to the Czech Republic including ban on entry into the Czech Republic for third-country nationals from countries marked as risky and ban on free movement for people arriving from abroad. List of countries with a low, medium and high risk of COVID-19 transmission is here. Conditions for entry of persons to the territory of the Czech Republic in accordance with the Ministry of Health Protective Measure valid from March 19th are available here. 30. 3. 2020 Dear Students, In the present extra-ordinary situation, you are no doubt asking questions about how your studies are going to proceed. Although these are very uncertain times, and practically anything can change, we would like to provide some basic information and some certainty for you. We are not able to provide a specific plan or scenario for your studies. The only certainty is that we have moved over to contactless teaching, and we urgently ask you to make use of this and to study. Despite all the uncertainty, we will create conditions for you to continue successfully with your studies, and we will help you in every situation. In justified cases caused by the extra-ordinary situation, the deans will make use of their right to take measures to waive inappropriately strict application of the Study and Examination Regulations. If any of you has any problems and needs help, do not hesitate to turn to me or to your dean. The “skills of an engineer” include dealing with problems. Therefore, take this period of contactless learning and teaching as a test of your and our abilities, which are not dictated by a study plan, but by life itself. 20. 3. 2020 Dear students, As you know, the ongoing Covid-19 epidemic is leading to a prolonged closure of the faculty. By the begining of the next week, starting 23. 3. 2020, we are moving fully to remote (distance) teaching. We have worked intensively to make this form of teaching work. Great thanks goes not only to your teachers, but especially to the teams from the faculty departments of SVTI and CZM. They have prepared platforms for distance learning, hardware background, filming and streaming lectures on youtube and writing instructions for both teachers and students. Teachers of all their subjects have already given information about the forms of distance learning on Moodle and CourseWare. It is clear that remote teaching cannot replace the face to face teaching associated with the transfer of personal experience. Not to mention laboratory teaching. These forms will be flexibly included after the end of crisis measures. We all take this difficult situation as a challenge, which can on the other hand lead to an improvement in all the teaching materials as well as a kick-start for some new forms of teaching which have so far been hard to imagine. We are intensively dealing with the issue of shifting some dates in the academic year schedule. It is a relatively complicated task, because the shift of one term means a shift of many other follow-up terms. We would hate to draw hasty conclusions. We would like to assure you that we will do our utmost to accomodate you in all respects so that you can successfully perform all your study duties and to successfully complete not only this semester, but also your entire studies. However, everything depends on how long the contactless lessons will last. Unfortunately, this is difficult to predict at the moment. CTU has now managed to get free access to the BOOKPORT service into operation. It is an online library that allows you to read thousands of titles from Czech publishers such as Publishing House GRADA, Publishing Portál, Galén, Publishing House Jota and others. Read completely without restrictions. You can use technical literature for study or fiction in your free time. Information on other free access to information resources can be found on the Central Library of CTU website. We would like to assure you that we will do everything we can to ensure that the interruption of contact teaching has no adverse effects. To do this, we will do our utmost to provide you with all the support, information and study materials. I have a good feeling about how quickly we managed to fully transit to distance learning. Although I realize that much will still need to be replenished and tweaked. If you are not sure about anything, please do not hesitate to contact your teachers, guarantors, vice-deans or me. 18. 3. 2020 Dear students, As of today it has been one week since our faculty closed in compliance with the Rector’s Order. For the past week, we have been working hard to prepare online teaching, which is currently in the test mode. I am truly pleased by your interest. The development of the situation in the Czech Republic determines a continuing closure of our faculty. For this reason, we are going to fully switch to online teaching. We are not able to foresee how long this situation will last. We ask you to be tolerant of your teachers and problems in online teaching that might occur. For each course, you should start seeing information in Moodle and CourseWare on how online teaching will be organized. Everything should be ready by this Friday. We are also trying hard to work out whether certain deadlines in the FEE Academic Calendar will need to be postponed. We do not want to rush our decision; it is a complicated issue as postponing one deadline will in turn put off many other following deadlines/dates. We assure you that we are going to try our best to meet your needs so that you can complete your study obligations and finish this semester or your studies.
