Changes in the way off loging into faculty systems
Dear users,
please pay attention to this information about upcoming changes to the way you log in to faculty systems and some external services (e.g. Google Workspace, Overleaf). These changes will increase security through MFA (Multi-Factor Authentication) while improving the user experience. We are developing it in parallel with the CTU Computing Center (VIC), which is implementing MFA for university systems. After successful internal testing, it’s time for a widespread deployment of MFA at FEL.
On April 16, 2025, we will begin a gradual migration of individual faculty systems to the new authentication server configuration.
Until now, you may not have noticed this authentication server, as the existing login process immediately redirected you to the SSO CTU at idp2.civ.cvut.cz. The new configuration uses its own login page on the auth.fel.cvut.cz domain, which supports two ways of logging in with MFA:
-
Passkey – a modern, secure and advanced login method that replaces traditional passwords. This preferred and most user-friendly method
-
SSO CTU (+ TOTP) – the current way of logging in via SSO CTU, where you enter your username and password. In addition, staff will be prompted to set up a second factor in the form of TOTP (this will be recommended for students). This method is an alternative and is mainly intended for subsequent Passkey setup and access recovery in the event of Passkey loss.
For a detailed explanation and instructions, please visit https://svti.fel.cvut.cz/en/services/mfa.html.
If you still don’t know what to do after reading the instructions, please get in touch with your departmental administrator or contact us via the Helpdesk (still helpdesk.cvut.cz).
Thank you in advance for your cooperation.
